#sawityowit = SAhur WITh YOur tWITter--The 1st Indonesian Twitter WordGame/Joke Show while doing Sahur; the pre-dawn breakfast during fasting month. Wanna Join? =D

#sawityowit is an Indonesian twitter meme in the same vein as #firstdraftbandnames. It was started by @dagienkz, @vincentrompies and @desta80s on the first day of this year's Ramadhan as a joke, because the three normally busy celebrities for some reason didn't score any hosting gigs on any of the TV stations for the "sahur" time slots of 3 to 5 am (GMT + 7). Sahur is the time when muslims eat their pre-dawn meal in preparation for a whole day of fasting.

The mechanism of #sawityowit is simple -- a theme is agreed upon, and participants tweet their jokes/puns/wordplays on that theme and add the sawityowit hashtag to make their tweet appear on the public timeline. Themes have ranged from fruits, celebrities, names of places in Indonesia, etc. As with all Twitter free-for-alls, the quality of jokes vary from the ones making you laugh to those making you grunt. Unfortunately, the jokes are only for Indonesian --it's hard to understand 'cause of their unique languages and cultures.

While the Indonesian TV stations are rolling out the same bland, uninteresting "sahur" programs with quizzes and unengaging hosts and musical guests, #sawityowit has become the alternative...or, as we like to say it, "THE NEW ERA OF SAHUR ENTERTAINMENT".

#sawityowit is the way we try to make eachother Laugh Out Loud in a limited time using twitter as their media of entertainment. Everyone is free to participate and make their own original jokes. The philosophy of the #sawityowit is from indonesian, by indonesian and for indonesian people or those who understand our language, our cultures and our jokes (definitely!!).

Subjective opinion about the originator of #sawityowit
@vincentrompies has the cleverest jokes, while @desta80s have the same type of jokes with @vincentrompies, but honestly still below @vincentrompies's class.
While a type of jokes @dagienkz is already too old, maybe according to his age.
@oomleo has different types of jokes, usually 2 steps ahead of the twitter's reader, with the most numbers and the same variation can make the twitter's reader bored and vomiting, because too many jokes is given.
@tora_sudiro, active at the beginning of ramadhan, has the same type of jokes @vincentrompies and @desta80s, but the class is still under theirs (as of November 30 at 08:44 UTC)
