On September 26, 2009, Typhoon Ondoy (International Name: Ketsana) poured on a month's worth of rain in 6 hrs leaving most of Metro Manila, Rizal and Laguna flooded neck-deep. Hardest hit were Marikina, Cainta, Pasig and Quezon City. A total of 25 provinces including Metro Manila were placed under state of calamity. As of last count, there are 246 dead, 2 million affected and four billion pesos estimated damage to agriculture and infrastructure. Four days after, many people are still stuck on their roofs waiting for rescue while most are huddled in evacuation centers awaiting food, water, blankets and dry cartons to sleep on.
